Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management for the organization and its subsidiaries.
- Prepare and present comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements, manage funding draw requests, and facilitate financial reporting to lenders, investors, and governmental agencies.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of audit materials and tax returns, working closely with external auditors and accounting firms.
- Establish and enforce robust internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices to safeguard financial integrity.
- Provide financial analysis and support for new project underwriting and development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting and finance experience, preferably in real estate development or affordable housing.
- Strong knowledge of real estate accounting standards (GAAP), joint venture structures, and equity waterfalls.
- Experience managing the tax filing process and coordinating with accounting firms for timely federal and state tax returns.
- Familiarity with affordable housing financing structures (LIHTC, HOME, CDBG, HUD).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI) and advanced Excel skills.
- Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with multi-entity organizational structures.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and benefits administration.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
