Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and AP/AR review to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing journal entries, accruals, and consolidated financial statements while providing variance explanations.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition for warehousing and transportation activities, validating billing alignment and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with Operations.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity across all entities, managing AR aging, reserves, and intercompany balances to enhance cash flow and working capital.
- Design and implement internal controls for cash, payroll, and revenue processes, serving as the primary liaison for external audits and regulatory compliance.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and reduce manual workloads, partnering with cross-functional teams.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship and establishing clear expectations to ensure accountability and continuity in critical processes.
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on month-end close and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit preparation.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or a closely related industry.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Nice-to-Have:
- CPA designation.
- Experience with ERP/accounting system implementations or major upgrades.
- Familiarity with transportation and warehousing management software.
