Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate recording of statutory filings and sub-ledger systems in compliance with applicable accounting standards, ensuring proper reporting of regulatory schedules and disclosures.
 - Determine appropriate statutory accounting policies for new investments and implement necessary changes in coordination with cross-functional teams.
 - Conduct technical accounting research on emerging pronouncements and actively participate in industry discussions to stay ahead of regulatory developments.
 - Communicate the implications of regulatory changes to stakeholders and develop strategic plans for implementation.
 - Manage the filing of securities with the NAIC’s Securities Valuation Office, ensuring compliance with the Purposes and Procedures Manual.
 - Collaborate with Portfolio Managers on inquiries, analyze NAIC ratings changes, and provide insights on NAIC 6-designated securities.
 - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of investment accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
 
Qualifications
- Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
 - CPA, MBA, or other relevant certifications.
 - Hands-on management experience with direct reports and strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in fixed income and investment accounting within an insurance company setting.
 - Proficiency in Investment Accounting Systems (e.g., ePAM), SVO ratings database, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
 - Strong knowledge of US Insurance Company Statutory guidance.
 - Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
 
 - Nice-to-Have:
- Experience with Bermuda Statutory accounting requirements and permitted practices.
 - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and industry standards, including participation in ACLI, NAIC, and RBC discussions.
